We asked a generative AI what would Japan be like in the next 30 years

So we decided to ask one of the many generative AI software (this time’s gencraft) out there to paint a picture of what Japan might look like in the next 30 years – here’s what we got:

You know, it’s actually a pretty darn good idea to grow greens alongside our buildings.

With a harmonious blend of tradition and technology, innovation and nature, Japan’s forward-looking tech continues to inspire artists and technologists alike. Here’s what an average Japanese female citizen may look like – outfitted with robotics, funk and fashion.

Love her funky pink headphones. And the steel neck cuffs. And the pink outfit. And her dreamy look – is she about to invite me for coffee?

And while the ladies are at it, the men suit up with impressive, futuristic body armour that would win adoration from the fairer sex. Did we imagine it to be a cool mix of RoboCop and a knight? Yeah, do away with the head gear since there will be no room for the fancy anime-inspired hairstyles.

Looking cool and serious, boyish and powerful. Ok, you win.

And this is your friendly neighbourhood store assistant:

Beep! How may I help you, Mr Customer?

Downtown…Urmm, is red the colour of the future?

Is the future gloomy, wet and filled with red neon lights?

A steel-clad city with hulking mechanical police officers patrolling the dusty streets so that no one will dare attempt to do silly things. Btw, he looks like a variant of the Transformers’ Bumble Bee. Or maybe Bumble Bee made it to the future somehow and spawned an army of his own. Who knows. The future can be weird.

We’re pretty sure he said “Hello. Please keep walking. Nothing to gawk at.”

Another variation of a girl in a robot suit. Cool. Wait, is she a robot, a cyborg or a human in cosplay? Heh.

Does she look slightly annoyed? Perhaps we should have included “cheerful” in our prompts. Oh well.

The samurais are ancient Japanese warriors known for their strict code of honour and mastery of the katana. We think Samurais are here to stay for the long term since it’s as Japanese as it is fearsome – just look at their face masks and one will steer clear of the ancient warrior’s path.

Who knew Robo Samurais would be this cool?? Urm, can I touch your armour?

Perhaps technological advancements made it possible for a twin bullet train system, with the smaller, secondary train being transported along with electromagnetic energy? It could work, right?:)

Efficient! Why didn’t the world think of that earlier?

How about a Robo Barista that can take orders, serve food and drinks and make small talk about everyday things. And he even remembers your pet’s name! Perfect.

If they are selling these Robo Baristas in the near future, I definitely want one at my home.

There you go. We hope you’ll like our little imagination overdrive post with what a futuristic Japan may be like, given that Japan is at the forefront of robotic technology, consistently pushing the boundaries of innovation and transforming the way we perceive and interact with robots.
